Yahoo "Mobile Symphony"

For Yahoo’s “Mobile Symphony” commercial, I directed and creatively led a film that turned mobile screens into a musical instrument. To promote Yahoo’s newly redesigned suite of mobile products, we built a custom app that synchronized music across 30 devices, allowing performers to “play” their screens in time with a score.

Creating a custom app we installed on each of the phones, the project used techniques typically reserved for live installation art. Each performer received visual prompts on their device to swipe or tap in unison, creating a collective rhythm that transitioned from the cool glow of a single screen to the warm crescendo of an entire ensemble. The result was a visually and sonically unified performance — an inventive metaphor for precision, responsiveness, and the beauty of intuitive design.
